Ingemar, I would recommend the New Cambridge Paragraph Bible, eeditd by David Norton. There is a very nice available including the apocrypha (only $10 on Amazon!), which is corrected over the first edition hardback and leather-bound editions. Around April there will be some new hardback and leather-bound editions released, at long last. The original editions were very larger and are also out of print. The paperback is thick, but of a manageable size (5.25 x 8.5 ). The editions coming out in April will (oddly, I think) also be available without the apocrypha. You might also be interested in the companion volume to the New Cambridge Paragraph Bible, also by David Norton, . It’s a combined short history of the text of the King James Bible and a comprehensive explanation of his method of editing the text back to the closest thing approachable to what its original editors intended, as determined by original surviving sources. He also has a new book coming out in February which will presumably cover the history in more detail, called . The interesting thing about the history that Norton relays in A Textual History is that it differs quite a bit from what one is typically told and which is presented in books like Adam Nicholson’s .

Sorry I’m not a Greek student but I do read your work and compare it to the English crap.

But now you are into my sandbox DSS etc. I really mean ‘sandbox’ I’m not an expert but I do muddle with sand castles of Hebrew.

Are you going to use LOGOS DSS?

I’m still working on audio for Genesis. I have Proverbs, parts of Isaiah and parts of Psalms.
I’ll start checking in more often.

Hi Jacob,

Why exactly PH.D Scholars are unable to translate basic Greek properly is fully beyond me – Maybe they did think that being explicit about the continuous processing aspect of was unimportant – if they did think that, then that’s actually a theological decision rather than a translational one.

A translation should aim to get the full meaning of a language’s words expressed in the translational language, and choosing what’s right to be explicit about is a no-brainer. Everything in translation should be explicit – there should be nothing really to decide other than “what’s the best word to use here to get the full meaning across?”

If the answer is “It’s impossibly to just use one word”, then the translation should use more than one. It’s quite simple. Too bad only 6 translations have managed to understand that. In this verse anyway – the 6 that got it right in this verse in Luke have got it completely wrong in other verses.

And my apologies for some of the words – Being an English man in England, the words that certain people have singled out aren’t considered vulgar or obscene here by the vast majority of the populace, and when it comes to language and word usage, the majority rules.

I’ve just finished the “Full Version” and have to say I’m flabbergasted! What an astounding piece of work! I haven’t fully processed it all yet, nor come to any final conclusions, but it’s certain that, from now on, the only way I’ll ever look at the book of Galatians is askance!
